In 1930, Giovanni Dalmasso, a renowned Italian agronomist, created a hybrid between Barbera and Nebbiolo di Dronero, called Albarossa. Finesse, elegance, complexity and persistence are the hallmarks of this great Piedmontese wine. Since 2014, the gentle hills of Monferrato, nestled between the rivers Po and Tanaro, have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A deep, almost impenetrable, ruby red. Warm and embracing to the nose with intense aromas of blueberry and other red berries, mixed with aromas of roasted coffee and of leather. To the palate it is rounded and full-bodied, a great concentration of fruitiness bolstered by a tannic profile which yields an outstanding yet very pleasant wine.
Pairs well with agnolotti al plin, egg noodles with various sauces, Casale risotto, rice with mushrooms and red wine, vegetable soups, polenta with fried cod, and meat dishes including tripe, oxtail and cooked sausage.
